On-Campus Facility and Building Use
Cleaning guidelines
The Office of Physical Plant (OPP) is responsible for cleaning common areas – bathrooms, hallways, exterior doors, lounge areas.
Research groups are responsible for cleaning inside their workspace – high touch surfaces and shared equipment.
OPP has guidelines for cleaning laboratories and electronic equipment.
Shared offices and Common Spaces
Because of the challenges of appropriate social distancing in shared offices and conference rooms, they will not be accessible under these phases (other than prior approval, such as shared research spaces).
Restroom Usage
One person max occupancy, when possible.
Enter slowly, and determine if the restroom is in use.
Handwashing prior to leaving lavatories is mandatory.
Eating and Drinking
Break rooms and kitchen areas will be closed to minimize traffic in shared spaces.
The cleanliness / sanitary conditions of the water fountains will not be guaranteed; bring water to work from home.
COVID Case Reporting and Contract Tracing
The Penn State Environmental Health and Safety has established procedures for case reporting and contract tracing. Employees experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should contact Occupational Medicine at psuoccmed@psu.edu or 814-863-8492. Supervisors are required to help track contacts of suspected COVID-19 cases by completing the COVID-19 Case Reporting Tool. More detail is provided under the guidelines for supervisors. Everyone is encouraged to review these guidelines to gain general awareness of current university COVID-19 reporting and contact tracing procedures. These procedures may be modified in the future.
