Clinical Research Participation

Clinical research studies are biomedical or health-related research studies in human beings that follow specific guidelines. In some research studies, participants are assigned by the investigator to a treatment or other intervention, and their outcomes are measured. In other studies, participants may complete a questionnaire, give a blood sample or mouth swab, or merely be observed.

Participants in clinical research studies can play a more active role in their own health care, gain access to new research treatments before they are widely available, and help others by contributing to medical research.

Directions and Parking

The CRC is located in the Elmore Clinical Research Wing of Noll Laboratory.

Get directions to parking area. Just put your location in and see how to get to the CRC at Noll Lab.

Parking is accessed from Burrowes Road on the Penn State campus.

To access Burrowes Road and Noll Laboratory:

From Atherton Street: Turn onto Curtin Road, between the Nittany Lion Inn and Rec Hall. At the stop sign, turn right onto Burrowes Road in front of Rec Hall. Just before the stop sign at Pollock Road, there is a directional sign on your right indicating the entrance to Noll Laboratory. Turn right onto the access road.

From College Avenue: Turn right onto Burrowes Road on the Penn State campus. Just after the intersection of Pollock Road and the IST Building walkway, there will be a directional sign on your left indicating the entrance to Noll Laboratory. Turn left onto the access road.

Parking for individuals participating in a research study at the CRC is available in the Red H faculty/staff lot located off of Burrowes Road on the Penn State campus. Look for parking spots with these signs: "Reserved Parking H&HD Permit Required"

Participants should park in the signed spaces only. Participants should use their 4-way flashers while they come into the CRC and get a parking permit from the CRC reception desk or nurse's station.

Permits must hang on the inside rear-view mirror of your car. Vehicles with permits on dashboards or otherwise obstructed from view may be ticketed. Vehicles displaying the permit but parking in spaces that are not signed for H&HD Parking also run the risk of receiving a parking ticket.

Note: The parking lot is patrolled 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. Participants using the designated spaces after 5 pm or on the weekends must have a parking permit displayed.
