A philosophical discipline pertaining to our ever-evolving notion of good vs. bad and right vs. wrong, ethics play an important role across society and around the globe.

Penn State’s Dual-Title Ph.D. in Biobehavioral Health and Bioethics equips biobehavioral health graduate students with the skills and knowledge they need to address ethical issues within the field of biobehavioral health, conduct original bioethics research, and produce bioethics-related scholarship. With this dual degree, you will have access to vast and growing global employment opportunities in research, academia, government, or private industry that require specialized expertise in bioethics, as well as those tailored for experts in the more general field of biobehavioral health.

This dual-title Ph.D. is the only program of its kind in the United States

By applying ethics to the field of medicine and health care, professionals in this field challenge scientists and researchers, technology professionals, and medical practitioners to ask relevant questions related to the morality behind their various pursuits, as opposed to simply providing sure and certain answers.
