Almonds and Almond Butter


This is a nutritional study that examines the effect of almond butter as an evening snack on morning fasting glucose.

You may be eligible if you meet the following criteria:

  • 18- 75 years old
  • Diagnosis of type 2 diabetes
  • Not taking insulin
  • Are not pregnant or lactating

Procedures and Compensation:

  • Participation will last for a total of 2 weeks
  • The second week will consist of wearing a continuous glucose monitor and consuming almond butter, which will be provided to you free of cost
  • The first week will consist of wearing a continuous glucose monitor and keeping your diet and exercise consistent
  • Participants will receive a detailed printout of their glucose levels and trends at the end of the study

This research study is being conducted by Dr. Penny Kris-Etherton, Professor of Nutritional Sciences, and has been approved by the Institutional Review Board of the Pennsylvania State University.
