Pistachio Nuts

Purpose:

This is a nutritional study examining the effect of evening pistachio consumption on blood sugar levels, gut health and other health outcomes related to heart disease and diabetes.

Procedures and Compensation:

  • Two 12-week treatment periods with a minimum 4-week break between the test periods.
  • We will provide you with 2 oz. of pistachios or a list of recommended foods to consume each day in the evening (i.e. after dinner and before sleeping).
  • Measurements of blood markers (sugar, insulin, cholesterol), gut health, blood pressure, and vascular health, at the start and end of each treatment period.
  • $510 compensation.
  • Lab results provided at no cost

You may qualify if you meet the following criteria:

  • 30-75 years old
  • BMI 25-45kg/m2
  • Non-smoker
  • Not taking anti-hypertensive, lipid lowering, glucose lowering drugs, steroids, or antibiotics
  • Free heart disease, stroke, kidney or liver disease
