The Ph.D. DIssertation Committee is responsible for the general guidance of the student, and will consist of four (4) or more faculty with at least three who are members of the GPN faculty.

In the instance of a declared minor at least one representative from the program that constitutes the minor must be on the thesis committee. When there is not a declared minor, two of the members of the dissertation committee must be from outside the candidate's major program (i.e., outside of the Department of Nutritional Sciences. These two committee members may or may not be members of the GPN, but these committee members must be outside the Department of Nutritional Sciences.

The committee is appointed through the Office of Graduate Student Programs, upon recommendation of the Professor-in-Charge of the GPN.
