Golf Teaching and Research Center
The Golf Teaching and Research Center (GTRC) is a unique teaching and research venture designed to lead university instructional and scholarly initiatives related to the golf industry.
Since opening the GTRC in November of 2009, we have taken a multi-faceted approach to exploring and enhancing golf instruction and research. Using innovative technologies, and leveraging the unique capabilities of faculty within the Penn State Golf Management program, Penn State Biomechanics, and Penn State Athletics, we engage in research projects and education programs to help all golfers perform at their best.
- Educational Offerings
The teaching and instruction we provide to our students and industry professionals is supported by research and by the PGA of America.
- Innovative Technology
The GTRC’s innovative teaching technologies include multiple motion capture systems, force plates, 3D Doppler radar ball flight machines, a putting green, and equipment for modifying clubs.
- Serving Golfers and Coaches
The GTRC offers various services to golfers and their coaches. We have the abilities to evaluate all aspects of a golfer's game including on-course performance with strokes gained, biomechanics including ground reaction forces, ball flight, club delivery, and club fitting.
- Golf Biomechanics
GTRC faculty and instructors partner with Penn State's Biomechanics faculty to provide a multifaceted approach to enhancing golf instruction and golfer performance.
