There are many opportunities for you to be involved in the groundbreaking research occurring at Penn State in the Kinesiology Department as an undergraduate. For example, you could assist with the biomechanics, exercise physiology, neuroscience, women’s health, or public health and wellness research that our faculty members are making progress in regularly.

As an undergraduate, you can assist with data collection, follow through with protocols, test procedures, or even publishing and presenting at national conferences.

The opportunities in research are vast and can be for credit as an independent study course or simply to gain valuable experience in research techniques and processes.

Internship opportunities are available to students in both of the majors in Kinesiology.

As an Athletic Training student, you will have the opportunity each semester to participate in internships where you will have guidance and support from Penn State faculty as you learn the skills necessary to become an effective athletic trainer. Opportunities are plentiful and many are available throughout the University with the many sports teams and groups on campus.

As a Kinesiology student, you will have the opportunity to participate in a number of courses designed to set you up for a successful internship. You will have the chance to learn about the internship possibilities and polish your professional skills in the classroom and through field experiences onsite at different professional locations. As the capstone, you will have the opportunity to spend an entire semester working onsite at any number of internship sites, including many professional sports teams.

With Penn State’s large alumni network and the Department of Kinesiology’s professional connections to internship sites throughout the nation, we can help you find the best internship option for you and your career goals.
