Brian Mateo serves as Associate Dean of Civic Engagement and Director of Strategic Partnerships for the Bard Globalization and International Affairs program at Bard College where he works with faculty and students across the Open Society University Network on experiential learning and civic engagement opportunities. Additionally, Mateo has worked with public diplomacy programs sponsored by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs on U.S. foreign policy as well as civic engagement and has cultivated a network of over 100 scholars from 59 countries. He is a Security Fellow at the Truman National Security Project, a Term Member at the Council on Foreign Relations and a trained Climate Reality Leader under former U.S. Vice President Al Gore. He has written and spoken about climate change and vulnerable populations worldwide. His articles have been published by the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs and Just Security. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of BYKids and has served on Board of Trustees of the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs.
