Clinical Services and Equipment
CRC Clinical Services
An experienced clinical research staff consisting of physicians, a nurse practitioner, and registered nurses works closely with investigators throughout the study to optimize and facilitate the research protocol. The CRC encourages a collaborative environment between the clinical staff and investigators.
Clinical staff skills and support services for protocols include:
- All levels of nursing/MD support
- Planning meetings with investigators to facilitate inclusion of desired ancillary testing, nursing interventions and documentation
- Medication administration, including intravenous bolus or infusion
- Blood sampling via venipuncture or vascular access devices
- Anthropometric measurements, e.g., skin folds, BMI, etc.
- Metabolic testing (resting metabolic rate) and pulmonary function testing
- Insertion and maintenance intraveneous access
- Exercise stress testing (cycle ergometer or treadmill)
- Resting ECG
- Muscle function testing
- Bone densitometry
- Advanced cardiac life support
