Alexa is interested in examining the short- and long-term impact of social (e.g., race/ethnicity, sex/gender, immigrant generation, etc.) and contextual (e.g., area deprivation indices) determinants of physical and mental health using a longitudinal design to attain a more comprehensive understanding of their effects on mental and physical health throughout middle to late adulthood. Specifically, she has an interest in the role of educational, neighborhood, and household environments to further inform her understanding of mental and physical health outcomes.
Her long-term goal is to be a research scientist and conduct research with an emphasis in health disparities, equity, and intersectional identity, while focusing on its impact on mid- to late-life Black adults.
