Instrumentation

The BCL currently has several instruments available for use by those needing wet lab equipment, space, or performing their own assays. The use of these instruments requires a small fee to cover reagents and maintenance costs. First time users can contact the BCL for pricing and to schedule initial training.

- Bio-Plex 200 Sytstem

Available for use in the BCL to read bead platform assays, the Bio-Plex® 200 uses Bio-Plex Manager™ Software to read both polystyrene and magnetic bead assays and can perform up to 100 different analytes in a single well. A small fee is assessed for use of the machine to cover sheath fluid, calibration reagents, verification reagents, and maintenance costs.

The Meso QuickPlex instrument is the newest multiplexing instrument from MSD, offering affordable access to high‑performance, electrochemiluminescence immunoassays. This compact system has been engineered to perform multiple, simultaneous tests on a single sample thereby increasing productivity, conserving sample, and delivering results quickly. The QuickPlex has a wide menu of commercially available assay kits and a full line of components and reagents for developing your own assays.
- Synergy 2 Multi-Mode Microplate Reader

The Synergy 2 is BioTek’s high-performance multi-mode plate reader designed for the life science research and drug discovery markets. Its fluorescence detection system uses deep blocking filters and dichroic mirrors for the best level of performance in research and screening applications. The dedicated absorbance detection system is monochromator-based, providing the best level of flexibility in this read mode. And, by utilizing dedicated optical elements for each individual detection technique, Synergy 2 offers uncompromised performance and the lowest limits of detection.
Detection modes include Fluorescence Intensity, Fluorescence Polarization, Time-Resolved Fluorescence, AlphaScreen, Luminescence and UV-visible Absorbance. Its three broad-spectrum light sources have been chosen for optimal illumination and excitation in all applications.
The Synergy 2 is controlled by BioTek’s Gen5™ Reader Control and Data Analysis Software, is certified for HTRF®, DLR™ and LanthaScreen™, and is compatible with AlphaScreen assays.

The EL406 Plate Washer provides fast, full plate washing with three reagent dispensers in one instrument. Its multiple capabilities include syringe pump and peristaltic pump dispensers for washing and dispensing in standard assays and vacuum filtration protocols on a single platform.
- BioTek Precision XS Microplate Sample Processor

The Precision XS Microplate Sample Processor provides automated 96-/384-well microplate liquid handling with a combination of single-channel sample processing, multi-channel pipetting and bulk reagent dispensing all in one compact instrument. Precision XS uses the intuitive Precision Power pc software to simplify programming of applications from hit picking to serial dilutions.
