Professor Emerita Lu Magnusson has Died

The College of HHD is mourning the passing of Lucille I. Magnusson, who died on March 23, 2020.

Professor Magnusson earned her MA and PhD at the University of Iowa and progressed through various teaching positions before ultimately spending twenty-six years as a professor for the Penn State College of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. Throughout her career, Magnusson advocated for the recognition of and equitable funding for women’s intercollegiate sport.

After retiring from Penn State, Magnusson was indefatigable in her volunteer work, serving in various ministries at Grace Lutheran Church. Ever-supportive of academic and athletic achievement, she also made generous gifts to the college to expand student scholarships.
