Competency Areas

  • Career & Professional Development: activities designed to increase students' awareness of, and access to, development opportunities in their field of interest
  • Service & Civic Engagement: activities designed to increase students' interaction with the local community and promote civic responsibility
  • Organizational & Member Wellness: activities designed to build rapport among members and emphasize the importance of physical and mental health
  • Diversity & Inclusion: activities designed to create a sense of belonging and community on campus, in HHD, and within the student organization

 

Eligible Activities

The following list is not all-inclusive. There may be other events/activities at the university or in HHD that your organization wishes to attend/host. For approval of activities not listed here, please send an email to Engaged Learning Specialist, Carrie Little, at little@psu.edu with the the following information:

  1. Title of the event/activity
  2. Competency area met by the event/activity
  3. Description of the event/activity
    1. Where and when did the event/activity take place?
    2. What skills, tasks, knowledge, actions, etc. did your membership gain/complete as a result of participation?
  4. A list of names and Penn State email address of student participants

  • Host a resume workshop
  • Conduct a mock interview session
  • Request HHD Career Services staff host a workshop
  • Invite Central Career Services professionals to speak at an organization meeting
  • Invite alumni to speak at an organization meeting 
  • Have 5 or more members sign in and note your organization at the HHD Career Fair

  • Have 5 or more members participate in MLK Jr. Day of Service
  • Have 5 or more members participate in the United Way Day of Caring
  • Have 5 or more members volunteer at a local organization
  • Host a voter registration workshop
  • Host a fundraiser for a local or national organization
    • 1 Point: $0 - $24
    • 2 Points: $25 - $49
    • 3 Points: $50 - $74
    • 4 Points: $75+
  • Fundraise for THON
    • 1 Point: $0 - $99
    • 2 Points: $100 - $199
    • 3 Points: $200 - $499
    • 4 Points: $500+

  • Host organization meetings
    • 1 Point: 1 meeting per month
    • 2 Points: 2 meetings per month (bi-weekly)
    • 3 points: 3 meetings per month
    • 4 Points: 4 meetings per month (weekly)
  • Host an info booth at the HUB (1 point for each time tabling)
  • Host an info booth at the Penn State Involvement Fair
  • Host an info booth at the HHD Student Organization Fair
  • Request a workshop through Health Promotion and Wellness, Campus Recreation, Counseling and Psychological Services, and/or University Health Services
  • Attend Art After Hours on January 30, 2025 from 5 - 8 p.m. for New Year, New You
