Staff Awards


This award honors and recognizes outstanding achievements by a staff, clerical, or technical service employees of the College of Health and Human Development.
Materials to submit: One detailed letter of support, with three signatures, that indicates how the candidate meets the award criteria.

This award honors a faculty or staff member in the College of Health and Human Development who has made sustained and significant contributions to fostering diversity and inclusion at Penn State and/or in the College of Health and Human Development. 

Materials to submit: One detailed letter of support, with three signatures, that indicates how the candidate meets the award criteria.

This award honors a faculty or staff member member who has made significant leadership contributions to the outreach mission of the college.
Materials to submit: a letter of support (signed by two nominators) that describes the outreach leadership contributions of the candidate; a statement of support from the department head or school director of the academic unit in which the candidate holds his or her primary appointment;  for staff nominations, an updated resume is needed; for faculty nominations, an updated curriculum vitae is needed. (If a curriculum vitae is not submitted, the Dean's staff will provide documentation from Activity Insight for the nomination packet given to the selection committee.)

This award honors and recognizes full-time undergraduate advisors in the College of Health and Human Development.
Materials to submit: a nomination letter from faculty and/or the administration, and a nomination letter from a current student advisee or an alumni who was an advisee.

Faculty Awards


This award recognizes outstanding faculty members in the College of Health and Human Development who exhibit academic excellence early in their careers. Those eligible will have been in the College no longer than 10 years and will not yet have attained the highest faculty rank. Note that this award can only be submitted by department heads and center directors. 
Materials to submit: Nomination letter from respective unit head or research center director that details how the candidate's contribution meets the criteria; and an updated curriculum vitae. (If a curriculum vitae is not submitted, the Dean's staff will provide documentation from Activity Insight for the nomination packet given to the selection committee.)

This award honors a faculty member committed to human service who is an accessible adviser in both academic and career decisions; who demonstrates a caring, professional style; and who symbolizes college values.
Materials to submit: One detailed letter of support, with three signatures, that indicates how the candidate meets the award criteria; and an updated curriculum vitae. (If a curriculum vitae is not submitted, the Dean's staff will provide documentation from Activity Insight for the nomination packet given to the selection committee.)

This award honors a college faculty member’s excellence in teaching and contributions to the art of teaching.
Materials to submit: One detailed letter of support that indicates how the candidate meets the award criteria.  The letter should be signed by the department head, one other faculty member, and two students who have been in courses taught by the nominee; and an updated curriculum vitae. (If a curriculum vitae is not submitted, the Dean's staff will provide documentation from Activity Insight for the nomination packet given to the selection committee.)

This award recognizes extraordinary achievement and service in advancing global sustainable development goals while carrying out the College of Health and Human Development’s efforts to maximize health, optimize quality of life, and enhance human potential for all people and populations.
Materials to submit: The name of the nominator, the name of the nominee, and a brief supporting statement regarding the contributions of the nominee.

This award honors a faculty or staff member in the College of Health and Human Development who has made sustained and significant contributions to fostering diversity and inclusion at Penn State and/or in the College of Health and Human Development.

Research Awards


This award honors a tenured or tenure-track faculty member’s outstanding research contributions occurring or culminating within the past several years.
Materials to submit: One comprehensive support letter that details how the candidate's research contributions meet the award criteria and identifies the nature and significance of the faculty member's recent contribution to knowledge.  The letter should be signed by the department head and two other nominators; dummary of research conducted; list of publications from the last five years only; other information pertinent to the candidate's accomplishments; and an updated curriculum vitae. (If a curriculum vitae is not submitted, the Dean's staff will provide documentation from Activity Insight for the nomination packet given to the selection committee.)

This award honors a senior faculty member who has made outstanding research contributions to the field across a major portion of his or her career.
Materials to submit: One comprehensive support letter that details how the candidate's research contributions meet the award criteria. The letter should be signed by the department head and two other nominators; summary of research from the candidate's career; a list of publications; other information pertinent to the candidate's accomplishments; and an updated curriculum vitae. (If a curriculum vitae is not submitted, the Dean's staff will provide documentation from Activity Insight for the nomination packet given to the selection committee.)
